Multiple myeloma is another type of cancer that forms white blood cells. These cells are called plasma cells as well. These plasma cells help you to fight with various infections. They are usually in the bone marrow where they take out healthy blood cells. These cancer cells produce abnormal proteins that can cause various complications.  Different treatments are available to control this disease depending on the patient’s health and history.

Symptoms :

Following are the symptoms and signs which a myeloma patient faces 

• Bone pain

• Nausea

• Constipation

• Loss of appetite 

• Mental confusion 

• Tiredness 

• Infections 

• Weight loss 

• Weakness in your bones and legs

The following are the risk factors that increase the risk of multiple myeloma in your body.

• Black race

• Family history

• If you are older than 65 years

• If you are an African American 

• If you are overweight 

• If you have been exposed to radiation

• If you have ever contacted with chemicals 

• You have the highest risk of facing this disease. 

Complications: 

Following are the complications you face while suffering from this disease

• Frequent infection

• Bone problems

• Reduced kidney function

• Low red blood cell 

Treatment 

You are facing this disease if your blood test shows the following facts

• Excess of calcium in your blood

• Less red blood cells 

• Kidney problems 

• High protein level in your blood

Following are the test doctor suggests you diagnose multiple myeloma. 

• A complete blood count which measures different various cells in your blood

• Blood urea nitrogen which checks how your kidney is functioning?

After the test, the doctor might recommend the bone marrow biopsy. The needles will put into a bone or in your hip to take a sample of your marrow to diagnose this disease. You might need a CT scan, MRI scan, or a PET scan to properly diagnose these diseases. Take proper advice from your doctor before taking any medication. 

Medications used to cure Multiple Myeloma

Doctors usually prefer chemotherapy for this disease. The mixture of chemo drugs is given to the patient to treat this disease. 

Following are the medicines you can take 

• Bendamustine 

• Cyclophosphamide

• Doxorubicin 

• Etoposide 

• Melphalan

• Vincristine 

Targeted therapy is also one of the treatments for this disease. These medicines focus on the proteins, genes, and tissues in the body to prevent cancer. Take a proper dose of medications such as Lenalidomide Pomalidomide, carfilzomib, or any other medication which is prescribed by the doctor.

Precautions:

Don’t panic yourself. Following are the precautions you can take while getting a treatment: 

• Eat a healthy diet

• Exercise

• Get plenty of rest

• Take advantage of good days 

• Supportive therapy is important.
